Veldt Terms of Service

Operator: Veldt is owned and operated by MEAI (Middle East Applied Intelligence) ("MEAI", "we"). By creating an account or using Veldt, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. The Marketplace Terms and the AI & Content Disclaimer are part of these Terms.
1. What Veldt is
Veldt is a camera-first field companion: you photograph or record things, AI helps identify them, and they join your personal field record. Veldt also includes an AI assistant (Ask Veldt), voice logging, reminders, and a marketplace where users can list items and contact each other.
2. Your account
•
You must provide accurate information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
•
One person per account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account is compromised.
•
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter this agreement.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
•
break the law, or use Veldt to plan or commit unlawful acts (including unlawful wildlife trade);
•
upload content that infringes others' rights, is hateful, threatening, or sexually exploitative, or that invades another person's privacy (e.g. photos of identifiable people without consent);
•
attempt to breach, probe, or overload our systems, scrape at scale, or reverse-engineer the service;
•
misrepresent AI output as professional advice, or use Veldt to generate misleading listings;
•
circumvent marketplace rules or use Veldt's messaging for spam or fraud.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. AI features — important disclaimer
Veldt's identifications and assistant answers are produced by AI and can be wrong.
•
Never rely on a Veldt identification for safety, health, or consumption decisions. Do not eat, feed, touch, or handle a plant, fungus, animal, or substance because the app identified it as safe. Misidentification of look-alike species is a known failure mode of all visual identification.
•
Health and care information in Veldt (for animals, plants, or anything else) is general guidance, not a diagnosis and not veterinary, medical, agricultural, legal, or financial advice. Consult a qualified professional.
•
Assistant answers that use web search may cite sources that are outdated or wrong.
The short AI & Content Disclaimer is incorporated into these Terms.
5. Your content and licence
•
You keep ownership of everything you upload or create in Veldt (photos, recordings, notes, records, listings, messages).
•
You grant MEAI a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, and display your content solely to operate, secure, and improve Veldt — including sending it to the AI processors named in the Privacy Policy for identification and assistant features, and showing your listings to other users. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content already shared with others (e.g. messages you sent) and lawful backups for a short period.
•
You are responsible for having the rights to what you upload.
6. Marketplace
The marketplace is governed by the separate Marketplace Terms. In short: Veldt is a venue only — we are not a party to any transaction, we process no payments, and transactions are strictly between buyer and seller at their own risk.
7. Paid plans
Veldt's current features are free. If paid plans launch, their terms and pricing will be presented before you pay, and these Terms will be updated.
8. Termination
•
You can stop using Veldt at any time and delete your account in the app (Me → Delete account).
•
We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these Terms, legal requirements, or risk to the service or other users; where reasonable, we will notify you.
•
On termination, sections that by nature survive (licences already exercised, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) survive.
9. Disclaimers and liability
•
Veldt is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the maximum extent permitted by law — including accuracy of identifications, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
•
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MEAI is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, loss of profits, or loss of data. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total aggregate liability of MEAI arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed AED 500 (five hundred UAE dirhams).
•
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms; for material changes we will give notice in the app before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of the United Arab Emirates.

Veldt AI & Content Disclaimer

This short notice is referenced by, and forms part of, the Veldt Terms of Service. Veldt is operated by MEAI (Middle East Applied Intelligence).
1. Identifications are best guesses.
Veldt's camera and voice identifications are produced by AI (including Google Gemini, Pl@ntNet, and iNaturalist). They come with confidence levels, and even high-confidence results can be wrong — look-alike species and objects are routinely confused.
2. Never bet safety on an identification.
Do not eat, feed, touch, or handle anything — especially plants, fungi, and animals — based on a Veldt identification. Do not use identifications to decide what is safe, edible, legal to own, or harmless.
3. Not professional advice.
Nothing in Veldt — identifications, care guidance, health assessments, Ask Veldt answers, market drafts, or price talk — is veterinary, medical, agricultural, legal, or financial advice. Health-related output is general guidance, not a diagnosis. Consult a qualified professional before acting.
4. Web-grounded answers.
Some Ask Veldt answers use live web search; cited sources may be outdated, incomplete, or wrong. Verify anything that matters.
5. User-generated content.
Listings, photos, messages, and notes are created by users, not by MEAI. We do not verify user content and are not responsible for it. Report abusive or unlawful content to us via the contact address in the Terms.
